Century old Salem Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama’s new project at Yercaud
Sri G.K.Ramakrishnan, Madurai donated to Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Salem, 4.0015 acres of land at Manjakuttai View Point, Yercaud Hills, Salem Dt. and it was registered on 15.5.2022.
Late Ms.V.Baby, devotee and retired teacher, donated her life-time savings to the Ashrama and this is being used for the initial development of the Project.
Sri N.Subramaniam of Chandragiri Estate, Architect R.Ashwin, Er P.Vigneshwaran,Sri S.Vivek, Sri A.Shanmugam, Er B.Sivagnanam, Er. P.Shiyamala Devi, Sri K.M.Ramakrishnan, Er.K.B.Chandrasekaran, Sri N.A.Rajendran, Sri K.Vivek, R.Bragadesh Er. G.Manjula, Sri S.E.Kannan of Manjakuttai, Er S.Ramanarayanan & Smt. R.Rajalakshmi of Pattipadi, Forest Ranger Sivakumar & Sri P.Balu, devotees and volunteers are helping in the development of the Project.
Architect R.Ashwin, Er P.Vigneshwaran have offered the Plans and Structural drawings as a labour of love.
Work done at the site: Survey and fencing of the land, Digging a bore-well and installation of motor pump , Temporary Electric connection, A watchman’s shed, E.B. Meter shed & A Flag-pole.

Medical work
Donation in kind offered to Manjakuttai Primary Health Centre on 15.12.2022 - Water Purifier, Plastic Chairs (15), Bedsheet with pillow cover (12), Steel bench (2), Digital BP Apparatus (2), Stethoscope Adult & Pead (2) & Weighing Machine.
Nagalur Primary Health Centre on 12.4.2023 - Bedsheets with pillow covers (35), V-Guard 25 ltr Geyser, SS Table with Mattress, BP Apparatus LED & Auto (4), Peadiatric Stethoscope (2).
Free Eye Camp on 30.7.2023 at Panchayat Union Primary School, Vellur, Yercaud.
Free Multi-Specialty Medical Camp on 26.11.2023 at Montfort Community Hr. Sec. School, Kuravankadu.
Welfare work
During Corona Pandemic 2020 - Distribution of Grocery Kit worth Rs.1500/- (each) to 622 families covering the following places - Vazhavanthi & Maramangalam Panchayat, Narthanchedu, Semmanatham, Kondayanur, Manjakuttai, Thalaisolai & Yercaud town.
During the years 2022 and 2023, distribution of 1203 Fleece Blankets, 703 towels & 703 biscuit packets in the following areas - Manjakuttai, Salaparai, Asambur, Semmadu, Kommakadu, Piliyur, Tankpadi, Kariyankadu, Mathikadu, Kolapalikadu, Narthanchedu & J.J.Nagar.
Distributed Buttermilk at Shervarayan Perumal Temple’s Chariot Festival during the years 2022 and 2023.
Cultural work
Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi Jayanti was celebrated on 15.12.2022 & Swami Vivekananda Jayanti was celebrated on 26.1.2023.
Republic Day: National Flag was hoisted at our land site in 2023 & 2024.
Free Tuition Centre for poor students was conducted for a few months during 2023 at Manjakuttai.
Sri Ramakrishna Jayanti Celebration
Public Celebration was celebrated at Manjakuttai Village (near our land site), Yercaud Hills on Sunday 17.3.2024 from 10.00 am to 1.30 pm. The program started with bhajans by Smt Aparna Ramesh and team of Sri Krishna Chaitanya Bhajanai Mandali, Salem. Smt Meenakshi Priya Ragavan & team of Sri Vinayaka Natyalaya, Chennai performed Bharata Nattiya followed by a Magic show by Sri Mohanraj, our Ashrama volunteer and cultural program by Govt School Children of Settukadu Village, Yercaud. Lunch prasad was served to 350 persons who participated.
Proposed Future Activities at Manjakuttai:
I 1. Spiritual Retreat, 2. Spreading the messages of the Holy Triveni, 3. Medical Camps and Healthcare advise to the poor people of the area.
4. Free Tuition Centre & Computer Coaching for school students, 5. Skill Centre for Women (Tailoring), 6. Play activities for Children.
II 1. To serve the tribal and local people of Yercaud and its 86 villages, Temple of Sri Ramakrishna is being planned.
2. Construction of Sadhu Nivas, and retreat accommodation for devotees & volunteers.
3. Construction of Exhibition Hall of the life and messages of Sri Ramakrishna and Swami Vivekananda and Freedom struggle of India.
4. Installing a bronze statue of 13.5 feet of Swami Vivekananda in Chicago pose to provide inspiration for the youth of this hilly village and general visitors.
It is estimated to cost Rs.4,00,00,000 (Four crores).
